I'm Slipping Right Now
From reality. I think this is a lot less serious than I just made it sound. Sometimes when I spend a good deal of time on the Internet, reading books, watching a tv show—basically participating in these little voyeuristic pleasures that give me insight into the lives of others, real or fictional, I become somewhat detached from what is around me. Gosh, when Deathly Hallows Part 1 was came out, it...

U-Haul lesbian →
bestofwikipedia: U-haul Lesbian or U-haul syndrome is a slang term of LGBT culture used to describe a stereotype of lesbian relationships.  The term originated from the punch line of a joke that lesbians tended to move in together on the second date. It suggests an extreme inclination toward monogamy or committed relationships. It is considered both complimentary and pejorative. (via DCurtain) ...

I Read James Dashner's The Maze Runner
My grandmother got me the book for Christmas. I enjoyed it. Intriguingly, the other day I was thinking to myself how tired I was of dystopias. Between school reading (see Brave New World) and cetera (see The Hunger Games, also every movie ever), the concept is just so…exhausting. But I have to admit, it’s compelling. I enjoyed both of the aforementioned books, and I really liked The Maze...

Can you guess my favorite album of the year?
I doubt it. I’m not even sure if anyone will reply to this post. But here’s a hint: it’s by an artist not from the United States and it was released in the first half of the year. I’ll post the answer tomorrow.

Tron Legacy
I’m excited for this movie, but not nearly as excited as I was for Deathly Hallows Part 1. By a scale of at least 500. If my excitement for the upcoming school break were 1000, my excitement for Tron Legacy would be around 100, and my excitement for the latest Harry Potter film would have been around 50,000. While I’m doing this, on the same scale: My excitement for the math...

That Which Occurs
Today is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Did you remember? I saw a short piece about it on the news, but I haven’t heard anyone mention it all day. I’m going to hazard a guess that many people weren’t aware. I wonder if in 50 years, the September 11 Attacks will be thought of similarly? This post isn’t to be charged in any way. I just wonder.

Waking Up From the Pill →
Medications don’t usually have their own black-tie events—there aren’t galas for antibiotics, or chemotherapy, or blood thinners—but the Pill, after all, is so much more than just a pill. It’s magic, a trick of science that managed in one fell swoop to wipe away centuries of female oppression, overly exhausting baby-making, and just marrying the wrong guy way too early. You wanted some good...

Every comment has a permanent URI — here’s the original “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” Additional controls at the bottom of each page reveal the original transcript and a map showing where the crew was during the conversation. ...
